Canoe’s debut album Places sounds like Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter. The album inadvertently centers around the themes of nature and simplicity in a musical style similar to James Taylor and Death Cab For Cutie.

Notable songs include the crowd-favorite rendition of Neutral Milk Hotel’s Holland, 1945, the power-pop track Anxious Jenny, or the sincere lovey-dove alt-country ballad Portrait.
